TIMIȘOARA, Romania – This year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Romania, and Chinese company Topband is celebrating with the expansion of its European plant in Timisoara. The move marks a significant step in strengthening the company’s global supply chain, with the factory focusing on home appliances, tools, and the new energy sectors.
A Strategic Investment for Topband
In November 2023, Topband’s Timisoara plant officially began mass production following its grand opening. The facility is set to play a crucial role in improving delivery services for Topband’s clients across Europe and beyond. The company sees this plant as pivotal to its international growth strategy, offering enhanced support to a range of industries, including household appliances and green energy solutions.
Reflecting on the challenges faced during the plant’s early development, Ye Shengxiang, General Manager of Topband’s European operations, remarked: “Although we faced countless difficulties in the early stages, our team’s unwavering commitment and relentless efforts turned these challenges into opportunities, leading to the current success.”
The facility has now completed its construction phase and boasts full production capabilities. It has also secured key certifications, including ISO14001 for environmental management, ISO45001 for occupational health, and ISO9001 for product quality and safety standards. This international recognition affirms Topband’s commitment to sustainability and safety. Looking ahead, the company plans to expand production from its current capacity to 33 production lines by 2028, significantly enhancing efficiency and customer service.
A Diverse and Inclusive Workforce
In addition to its industrial growth, Topband has been recognised for fostering a diverse and inclusive working environment. In March 2024, the company was named one of Timisoara’s top ten employers, praised for its strong organisational culture by Hipo, Romania’s leading HR consultancy. This accolade was widely reported by local media, including Antena TV.
The company has made local recruitment a priority, with 82% of its 190-strong workforce hailing from Romania. Cultural exchange is central to the company’s ethos, with traditional Chinese festivals celebrated to foster understanding among its diverse team. Local employee Yu Rou reflected on the Dragon Boat Festival celebration, sharing how it offered an opportunity to experience Chinese traditions firsthand, promoting respect and unity in the workplace.
Bilateral Cooperation and Future Plans
Topband’s commitment to Romania and broader Europe was further underscored on September 19, 2024, when Ye Shengxiang participated in the inaugural China-Romania Business Bucharest Roundtable. Attended by government officials and over 100 representatives, the roundtable provided a forum for discussing new opportunities in economic and trade cooperation between the two nations.
Looking to the future, Topband’s European factory plans to expand its operations significantly. By 2028, the company aims to increase its workforce to 1,000 employees and expand its facility to 37,000 square metres. With ambitions to produce 6.5 million pieces daily, Topband is positioning itself as a key player in the global market, particularly in the smart technology and sustainable energy sectors.
Topband’s strategy is built on principles of open cooperation and mutual benefit. As it continues to innovate with intelligent control technology, the company is committed to creating value for its customers worldwide while contributing to a smarter, more sustainable future.
