Formula 1 driver Lando Norris has successfully raised over £45,000 for charity through a series of online auctions held in partnership with F1® Authentics, the memorabilia platform operated by Memento Exclusives under licence from Formula 1. The funds will be donated to several charities chosen by Norris, with the auctions featuring unique items linked to his 2024 racing season.
The standout auction item was Norris’ Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying helmet, which he wore to secure pole position at the Hungaroring in 2024. The helmet, decorated with a porcelain-style design inspired by the podium trophies of the Hungarian Grand Prix, fetched £43,001. The proceeds from this auction were split between the Hungarian Federation of Blind & Partially Sighted, the Royal Society for Blind Children (RSBC) in the UK, and a proposed charity initiative from Herend Porcelain Manufactory, which designed the helmet.
Both the Hungarian Federation of Blind & Partially Sighted and the RSBC are renowned for their efforts to support blind and partially sighted children, helping them access educational resources and improving their quality of life. The funds raised will assist these charities in their work, providing accessible textbooks and offering support services to children and young people.
In addition to the helmet, Norris also signed a replica of the Pirelli Pole Position Wind Tunnel Tyre, with the proceeds from this auction going to Race Against Dementia. The global charity, founded by Sir Jackie Stewart OBE, is dedicated to accelerating research into the prevention and cure of dementia. The signed tyre raised £4,800, contributing to Race Against Dementia’s vital research efforts.
The auctions, which took place on F1 Authentics, have had a profound impact, raising both money and awareness for the causes supported by Norris. In a statement, the McLaren driver expressed his pride in the success of the initiative: “It’s been a pleasure working with Memento Exclusives to raise vital funds for some incredible charities this year. The work of the Royal Society for Blind Children, the Hungarian Federation of Blind and Partially Sighted, and Race Against Dementia is essential, and I am honoured to have been able to contribute to the fantastic work they all do.”
The Hungarian Federation of Blind & Partially Sighted’s President, Dr. Sándor Nagy, expressed his gratitude, stating: “We are always delighted and honoured when an iconic figure like Lando Norris supports our work. This generous donation will help us provide blind and partially sighted children in Hungary with accessible textbooks, supporting their education and future opportunities.”
Julie Davis, CEO of the Royal Society for Blind Children, added: “We’re immensely grateful for this kind donation from Lando, which will allow us to provide life-changing support to blind and partially sighted children and young people. The money raised would fund thousands of support sessions, helping us to make a real difference.”
Lydia Beaton, CEO of Race Against Dementia, also thanked Norris for his continued support: “Every contribution brings us closer to a future where cures and preventions for dementia are a reality, and Lando’s support means the world to us.”
Through these auctions, Lando Norris has not only raised a significant sum for charity but has also highlighted the power of the motorsport community in supporting important causes. For product information visit www.mementoexclusives.com and www.f1authentics.com
