Accord Carton Honoured for Sustainable Packaging Design
An Illinois-based packaging company has been recognised for its innovation in sustainable design at this year’s Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) Fall Meeting. Accord Carton, known for its eco-friendly and efficient packaging solutions, received the prestigious “Gold Award” for its work on the Goose Island Aperitivo 4-pack beverage carrier.
The award ceremony, held in Atlanta, saw Accord Carton celebrated for its design, environmental responsibility, and ability to swiftly deliver products to market. This recognition places the company among the leaders in the paperboard packaging industry, with a particular focus on both creative solutions and sustainability.
Accord Carton’s CEO, Tommy Conner, expressed pride in the award, which he said highlights the company’s commitment to balancing sustainability with rapid production times. “Our team is deeply honoured to receive this recognition from the Paperboard Packaging Council. It underscores our dual commitment to sustainability and delivering speed-to-market solutions that provide a competitive advantage for our clients,” Conner said.
The winning Goose Island Aperitivo carrier design was noted not only for its striking appearance but also for its practical functionality and environmentally responsible approach. Made from sustainable materials, the carrier was designed to have minimal environmental impact while still maintaining a strong, reliable structure for carrying the beverage product.
The recognition from PPC was given for Accord Carton’s approach to speed-to-market, a key factor in the fast-moving consumer goods industry. Speed-to-market refers to the company’s ability to quickly deliver packaging solutions to clients, ensuring they stay competitive by getting their products onto shelves as quickly as possible. Accord Carton’s swift production capabilities are bolstered by its use of advanced technologies, allowing them to meet client needs without compromising on quality or sustainability.
During the ceremony, the award was presented to a group of Accord Carton executives, who were joined on stage by members of the PPC. Those representing Accord Carton included Procurement Manager Zachary Codo, VP of HR Eva Liss, VP of Sales & Marketing Christine Kelley, CFO Tom McNulty, and CEO Tommy Conner. Also present were Ben Markens, CEO of the PPC, and Steve Scherger, PPC Board Chairperson.
Accord Carton’s reputation in the industry has grown in recent years, with a focus on reducing its environmental footprint and developing products that align with the needs of eco-conscious consumers. By employing sustainable practices throughout its manufacturing processes, Accord Carton has managed to stay competitive in an increasingly green-conscious market, where clients and end-users are prioritising environmentally friendly packaging.
The PPC “Gold Award” is one of the most significant recognitions in the paperboard packaging sector, and its award to Accord Carton underlines the company’s position as a leader in both sustainability and innovation. Accord Carton’s focus on efficient, sustainable production aligns with broader industry trends towards eco-friendly materials and processes, positioning the company well as it continues to meet the demands of a rapidly changing market.
Through innovative packaging solutions like the Goose Island Aperitivo carrier, Accord Carton demonstrates the potential for companies to combine creativity, efficiency, and responsibility in ways that benefit both business and the environment.
