A new study has analysed the current Spotify charts to determine which songs contain the most explicit content.

Experts at JeffBet.com uncovered the top 10 most explicit tracks, by scoring each song in the US, UK, and global Spotify charts based on their use of profanity and adult references.

The songs’ explicit content was divided into drug, alcohol, and sexual references with each theme’s severity scored out of 10. The number of swear words in each song also contributes to its overall score.

Eminem takes the top spot with Houdini. The song has an overall score of 45, amounted by the 24 swear words featured in the hit track. Houdini was marked highest for its drug content, scoring 8 out of 10.

In second place is Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar, scoring 40. The song features 23 swear words and scored highest for its sexual content, receiving a score of 7 out of 10.

Coming in third is Like That by Future, Metro Boomin, and Kendrick Lamar, with a score of 39. The track features 18 swear words, earning an 8 out of 10 for its sexual content.

FIEN by Travis Scott and Playboi Carti is fourth, scoring 36. The track features 15 swear words and was marked highest for its drug content, receiving an 8 out of 10 score.

At number five is Did It First by Central Cee and Ice Spice, with a 30 score. The song features 11 swear words and scores an 8 out of 10 for its sexual content.

A spokesperson from JeffBet.com commented on the findings: “The use of graphic references in popular music has certainly increased in recent years. It is fascinating to witness music artists push boundaries on what language is acceptable on mainstream platforms.

“Since rap artists have dominated this study, we are surprised that notable artists such as Nicki Minaj, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion are not present, despite all releasing music in 2024.”
